About the DoughBros
Kyle and Joel are brothers who live in Perth, Western Australia. Kyle has the kind of brain that likes to design games, and he's been doing it in one way or another for nearly as long as he's been playing them (a little over 15 years). Over the years, he's created about 30 prototypes, many of which he played once and immediately abandoned, but a few that he's managed to get some willing victims to sit down and enjoy. The styles, themes, and mechanics range. Invertebrates feature with more frequency that he cares to admit.A few years ago, Kyle talked to Joel - a newly qualified graphic designer at the time, and one of his regular playtest victims - about actually producing one of these games. Joel was keen. They picked Swordplay because of its simplicity, fun factor, and the relative ease of creating and marketing a small game. Seeing as both brothers have young kids and 'real' jobs, work was slow, but in December 2025, they finally printed off their first 100 copies, most of which were sold to friends, colleagues, acquaintances, some randoms on Marketplace, and people Kyle met on his travels.The response has been overwhelmingly positive. At this point, the DoughBros are doing it all themselves, learning as they go, probably doing it all wrong, but largely enjoying it. Mostly, they just want to get Swordplay out there! And out there it is getting - if you're looking at this page, it's probably thanks to this little game of ours. We hope you love playing it as much as we loved making it!
